Ticket/master/initial commits

This pulls in new modifications to REFERENCE.md from a newer version of
puppet strings

We are not running windows tests for this module and do not need
appveyor

This object is not always going to be present, and `nil.zero?` fails,
whereas `nil == 0` simply returns false, which is what we want.

Although we generally should not allow instance variables in rspec
tests, we need to retrieve output that is dropped into instance
variables by parent methods. We aren't assigning any instance variables
in these tests, simply reading their content.
