Hi, I want to pick up this as suggested by @vlorentz a while back.

I think the best way to show the UI is to make a modal like how we do for permalinks - i.e. show only when the user wants to see it.

I quickly modified the HTML page using Chrome DevTools to generate a glimpse of what it could look like:

I'd rather not overload the UI more with another button on the right. Could you reuse the existing metadata button? (Not sure it's visible to you in logged-out mode, but it exists.). Given the size, maybe link to another page instead of opening a popup.

I don't see any "metadata" button anywhere. Am I missing something or is the feature not enabled for all users?
